If TN can do it why can’t we. That’s what Karnataka congress is saying right now. As a part of the poll promises, they want to distribute Color TVs if they win the polls. What a generosity.
These endless promises are never going to end in Indian Politics. They can promise whatever possibly can come out of their mouth. I am not questioning their promises. They can promise to send everybody to the moon. But at whose expense.
Who is going to bear the expenses of distributing TVs. That money is not going to come from Indian National Congress but from our own pockets. When most of the poor people are making < Rs.500 a month in Karnataka can they afford the electricity bill or cable bill ? It is better to include those things also in the package. Anyway it is not their money. The common man has to pay that. It is like you buying a TV for your neighbor.
Another scheme is Rs 2/kg rice scheme. These two promises alone may cost the public Rs10000 Cr. What are we teaching the people living below poverty line ? We are simply saying “hey you don’t have to make Rs 500 a month to survive. Rs 50 is enough. Just buy the rice, watch the TV and chill out.
In fact the generosity of all seasons came from Central Government last month during the Budget. Waiving the Loans for farmers going to cost the nation approximately Rs.60000 Cr. This Rs.10000 Cr. is nothing.
I am thinking what can I promise if I want to become a politician. May be a 500 GB external hard drive for everybody under poverty line. Don’t laugh. I don’t care even if doesn’t make sense.
